One Down, One to Go.....

The Academy Awards have just ended. As expected, the Oscar for Best Documentary Feature went to "An Inconvenient Truth", the Al Gore documentary on global warming. The movie also won an additional Oscar for Best Original Song -- "I Need to Wake Up" by Melissa Etheridge.

The Shadow gives his congratulations to Al Gore and the producers and directors of "An Inconvenient Truth".

Is the Nobel Peace Prize next?

Good night and good luck.

First Vice President, Now Academy Award Winner

Although The Shadow formed this blog to talk about his political leanings across the spectrum, we cannot help but to talk about a major event that will happen this evening.

One of the nominees for Best Documentary Feature in tonight's Academy Awards program will be "An Inconvenient Truth", brought to us by former Vice President Al Gore. This feature is the frontrunner to win in this category tonight, and we certainly wish Mr. Gore luck.

Al Gore has done much since leaving office in 2000. Besides the fact that he did not succeed Bill Clinton in the White House as President, he now is up for an Academy Award, has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, and is in the process of setting up a worldwide concert to bring attention to global warming.

With all of this going for him, why does he need to run for president. Many people are asking him to. He is making the right decision to stay away. He can do much more in his current role than he ever could in 8 years in the White House.

To Al Gore, The Shadow says, keep to your current course. There is no doubt that we will hear more from him as the year progresses. But for now, let's watch him accept the Academy Award tonight for his documentary.

Good night and good luck.
